Installation

The XMPPConnector requires an account on a given XMPP Server.

If the xmpp server is a known OpenFire server, a plugin can be added to improve features. See Install and Configure an XMPP server with JCMS for more information

XMPP Server

JCMS can be connected to multiple XMPP Server declared in custom.prop. The default configuration can be edited from plugin's admin properties.

All bots can be reconnected for BackOffice: Admin > XMPP Manager > Reconnect

 

JCMS

Features

Presence (and status)

JCMS is a bot listening to Presence of all Members of it's Roster. When Member's IM Client sends Presence packet, JCMS update Member's ExtraInfo to display status.

Note: IM's client will send Presence packet to JCMS only if Roster type link is set to "both".

  • JCMS accept all request
  • User must answer and accept a Presence subscription on it's IM Client
  • Sometimes it can be overrided, server side, in Bot's roster

Notification (send a message)

A Notification can be send by JCMS from a Modal or a Portlet with a given message to a:

  • Group
  • Workspace
  • Member
  • Conference

JCMS will iterate throught all Members to send a dedicated message.

Conferences (aka MUC)

A Multi User Conference can be started from a Modal or Portlet. JCMS can send an invitation to join the conversation to a

  • Group
  • Workspace
  • Member

GoogleTalk users will receive an link to dedicated web instant messenger.

Trigger instant messaging

An IM can be started from web interface. JCMS will send a custom message to server to start a new between both users.

This feature require a plugin on OpenFire Server
