JTranslate 1.3.2

With JTranslate, collaboration goes beyond the language barrier. Everyone participates in his or her own language, and JTranslate translates on the fly and at the request of other users.

When to use this module?

Does your organization operate in an international context, with teams or subsidiaries in different countries that speak different languages? In order to unite your teams, it is essential that communication is published in several languages, but your editorial teams do not have the time to manage the translations? Would you like to develop collaboration and knowledge sharing between employees from different countries?

JTranslate helps your editorial teams write content in multiple languages by providing them with an automatic translation base while writing , so they only have to proofread before publishing. With JTranslate, users can request on-the-fly machine translation of publications in languages they don't speak. This allows them to read and interact with content that they would not understand without the help of JTranslate.

What does this module offer?

JTranslate can be used in several contexts:

  • On thefly in activity streams, conversations, comments, micro-blogging
  • On publications: articles, blog posts, JMag links or web pages
  • When writing content in the WYSIWYGrich text editor
  • In a dedicated application, also available in mobility

JTranslate automatically detects the language of the original text and translates it into the language of the connected user.

For each translation performed by JTranslate, a tooltip indicates which language was translated and with which translation engine.

In terms of settings, JTranslate allows you to specify

  • The languages available for translation
  • The types of content that can be automatically translated
  • The people and groups that can use the automatic translation feature
  • The translation engines used

Choice of translation engines

JTranslate relies on free or paid translation engines that you have access to or subscribe to. In a completely transparent way for the users, and by simple parameter setting, it thus makes it possible to use the best translation engines specifically to translate from one language to another. JTranslate also caches translations to optimize the performance and cost of these translation engines.

The translation engines currently tested and supported by JTranslate are :

What you won't find elsewhere

Being able to "speak Chinese" at last

Fluidizing information means gaining efficiency and collective intelligence. With JTranslate, information is even more fluid between people who do not speak the same language. JTranslate allows for interactions that were not possible before because they were too cumbersome or too costly. These interactions create a bond between people and strengthen the organization

Freedom to choose the translation engine

This is especially important for sensitive data. With JTranslate, you can choose Systran, which allows for on-premise installation and avoids sending data in the clear to other translation engines' cloud services. Or you can choose DeepL, which is hosted in Europe and is therefore subject to the European RGPD. With each translation, a tooltip clearly indicates which language was detected and which translation engine was used.

Cost control

With JTranslate, it is possible to allow translation engines to be used only for certain content and by certain people. In addition, caching of queries to these engines saves many queries charged by these search engines. JTranslate thus allows for better control of machine translation costs.
